The DPR is responsible for licensing and disciplinary action against contractors. According to the DPR, I provided insufficient evidence to support disciplinary action under Chapter 489 of the Florida construction industry regulatory statutes. I provided all of the documentation as per their instructions and I believe that documentation does provide extremely sufficient evidence. According to Florida Legislative Committee on Intergovernmental Relations Draft Interim Project Report DBPR is responsible for protecting the well-being of Florida’s residents and visitors through the regulation of various professions. The Division of Professions within DBPR is responsible for regulating professional licensees through education and compliance. The Division of Regulation is responsible for enforcement of professions and related businesses licensed by DBPR under the Division of Professions to ensure that the laws, rules, and standards set by the Legislature are followed. Question It is my understanding that the Florida Building Code requires that damaged wood be replaced. This contractor obviously ignored that regulation. How can the City Building Inspector and the State DPR ignore the obvious fact that this contractor did NOT comply? |

Why do I need a permit? The purpose of a permit is to protect you, your family, and your neighbors from the effects of work that violates building and zoning codes. These violations could cause hazards to life or property and compromise the quality of life we expect and enjoy. So I have my permit, what about inspections? It is the contractor’s responsibility to call for inspections. Inspections are required during certain phases of the project to insure continued code compliance. |
